''The gift which I am sending you is called a dog and is in fact the most precious and valuable possession of mankind''
We purchased a female puppy in 2012 and are extremely pleased with the process. During this time we found the breeder was always very pleasant & accommodating and allowed us to revisit the farm on numerious occassions once we picked out our puppy. We were pleased to meet our puppys parents each time and we loved spending time with our puppy and the others while we visited. We found the barn in which our puppies were born to be clean and warm and were very pleased to see the parents interacting with the puppies and ourselves. Our puppy is named Marlee and was born to Sheebah and Rex's 2012 litter. She has been easy to housetrain. She is very sociable, loves people and the dogs we meet at the doggie park. She has learned to sit, stay, shake a paw and she is only 17 weeks old. She is very alert and calm in a busy household of four children and 2 adults. I have been extremely lucky and priviliged to be allowed to have Marlee at work with me and she has become an exceptional companion to my family and to all of my co-workers. We are very pleased with her and her progress.

"Our best Christmas present ever".
My husband and i surprised our boys this past Christmas Eve, by driving out to Zhoda, Manitoba to pick out a puppy! Little did our boys know, they were finally getting a dog.
Three years ago we had lost our dog "Taylor". She was a beautiful Black Lab. We enjoyed 11 great years with her... but life hasn't been the same and we really missed having her in our home. Our boys watch "pick a puppy" on CMT, learning about the different breeds and wishing they could have one! Well that all changed when we heard about the litter that just arrived in Zhoda!
We'll never forget our first visit, meeting momma Sheebah and daddy Rex, and their little puppies, all 10 of them! We instantly fell in love with each and every one of them! We couldn't believe how gentle and beautiful they were. I think we stayed well over an hour playing with all of them; slowly making our decision to find our puppy!
Well we found him, we chose a very quiet puppy, one that snuggled in our middle son's arms. We knew he was the one.... we're a very busy household, three active boys; so a calm, gentle dog was what we were looking for! It was tough to leave, we wanted to bring Rex home that day (we already named our little puppy after his daddy). Instead, we left a bed and toys for Rex to play with, so he'd have the smell of his family close to him forver... for when the day came to bring Rex home with us.
We couldn't wait to see Rex again; it was torture waiting the 8 weeks, so we decided to head out to Zhoda again. It was great spending more time with Rex and his family... Daddy Rex and Momma Sheebah were so well behaved, they're such lovable dogs. We knew our little Rex was in good company.
Little Rex stayed an extra week on the farm (due to our schedule), and by this time all of his brothers and sisters were sent of to new homes. Rex was the lucky one, he got to enjoy one on one time with his Mom and Dad and uncle Rosco too! I think this made a world of difference for Rex. When we brought him home he was good being left on his own, he was very independent already and was that much older too.
We were over the moon... we finally have our very own little puppy! Little Rex has been smothered in hugs and kisses; he's fit so perfectly in our family. It's been a smooth transaction overall.. Rex was housetrained within days, he's such a smart dog, letting us know when it's time to go out, and when it's feeding time! He's been kenneled from the beginning and doesn't mind it at all (this brings peace of mind knowing he's out of harms way when we're not around). Rex also loves the outdoors, and our family walks, but most of all he likes to cuddle with our boys - a dream come true for them!
We are so pleased with how things went.... the whole process couldn't have gone any better. Thank you for bringing Rex into this world! We love him sooooo much!
The Angus family
Upon arriving at the Zhoda farm we were greeted with Nixon's mother and father - Sheebah and Rex. We were immediately pleased with the temperments both of them possessed. Rex, as handsome as can be, approached us to say hello with not one bark. Sheebah was very welcoming and allowed and trusted us to see her puppies - with no bark or growl, which again demonstrated the wonderful personalities both mom and dad have.
On our first visit and at only 10 days old we picked out our new little puppy Nixon. We were able to go and visit as often as we could which was greatly appreciated. Nixon was able to meet us a few times before we actually brought him home. We left toys and a blanket so that the scent of Sheebah and Rex and Nixon's siblings would come home with us - this blanket is his favorite to this day. We also brought a small amount of straw from the area he was living in.
The adventure to his new home was better than ever expected! He is a very independent puppy and did not cry the entire ride home. After placing the blanket and straw into his puppy kennel he immdeiately loved it. On the very first night he was already fetching a tennis ball. From that point on he has been a sponge; absorbing any tricks we throw at him! We used a kennel in our bedroom for the first week or so and then found he was ready to move to a dog bed. He house trained quickly and did not make any accidents throughout or when left in his kennel unsupervised. House breaking Nixon did not take long - he only had a few accidents in the house and has since learned to be asked out when needed.
Nixon is now four months old and knows many commands such as; sit, lay down, roll over, shake right paw, left paw, play dead, stay, fetch and has also learned the word nice. Nixon has learned to sit and wait patiently for his food and does not jump - and we found that just like Rex and Sheebah he does not bark and has a very calm and friendly temperment.
Nixon loves other dogs and has made many new friends. He loves to play and go for walks! I have yet to mention how happy we are with his gorgeous looks. He is a beautiful color, a nice dark black nose and is as soft as can be! We are so happy we stumbled across the add for Golden Retrievers in Zhoda, Mb. We have fallen completely in love with Nixon and are Golden fans from here on out!

From the first day we brought Blue home, he instantly fit into our family. Our three children adore him and are loving growing up with their new friend. His docile temperament has been perfect for our home but he's always ready in a moments notice for a walk or a hike. He gets along with every dog he meets and has become best friends with the neighbourhood. Blue waits for his family at the window and always greets us at the door. He keeps our feet warm when we watch t.v and sleeps on the floor beside us at night. He has truly been the perfect dog! We look forward to many more years with our red Golden Retriever named Blue.
The Dowdell family
We found the add on kijiji for Golden Retriever puppies and were instantly taken by the pictures of their dogs Rex and Sheebah and their puppies. As we have owned Golden Retrievers for the past 20 years and are aware of what loving and intelligent dogs they are, we were ready to make another addition to our family. We picked a beautiful dark red female puppy Sadie from pictures of the litter. The breeder kept us updated with photos and information until Sadie was ready to come home with us. Sadie stayed 9 weeks with her parents and was picked up last with her brother Willie. We feel she enjoyed and benefited with the extra time with her parents and brother. She was very smart and independent from the start. We did not have to crate her as a puppy as she never tried to get into any trouble. Sadie is an absolute joy to us and her brother Simon whom we have had for 7 years. She follows him around and learns from him. She is a friendly, loving, and playful addition to our family. She loves to play with her ball and is just learning to swim. She is already showing promise as a partridge hunting dog as our family enjoys the great outdoors and bird hunting. Sadie was very easy to train and did well at obedience school. She is a very healthy, happy intelligent and well adjusted puppy. The breeder does a wonderful job ensuring her puppies are well taken care of and ready for their new homes. We are just thrilled with our little sweetheart and recommend Country Raised Golden Retrievers if you are looking for a new friend.

In 2013, when we were looking to add a Golden Retriever puppy to our family, we discovered Country Raised Golden Retrievers and their breeder. We had previously lost our 9 year old Golden and our home just wasn't the same without the special energy of this particular breed. The breeder answered all our questions about the litter, and sent photos and weekly updates about the little girl we chose.
We made the 10 hour drive to Zhoda to pick up our girl, Sydney, and we were greeted by Sydneys parents, Rex and Sheebah, It was great to meet the parents and see their calm, gentle temperments, and how much they interacted with their puppies. The puppies were adorable! Finally being able to see them and see Sydney in person was amazing. She was so calm and happy. We actually drove home with Sydney and her brother, who we were helping to deliver to his forever home. During the 10 hour trip home, the two puppies cuddled together in their crate and didn't cry or show any distress over their long journey.
When we got home, Sydney got to meet the three other large breed dogs that share our lakefront home with us. While initially a little unsure she took total advantage of having three big sisters to jump on and play with. House training was almost not even an issue, as Sydney would go and scratch at the door when she wanted to go outside (When I told the breeder this, she said that Rex does the same thing). She was crated during the day while we were gone without any issues and was such an easygoing, happy puppy, she learned new things every day.
Now that Sydney is almost a year old, she has freedom of the run of the house with the other dogs, and has never chewed or destroyed anything that wasn't a doggy toy, She loves going for long walks and LOVES living at the lake and going swimming every chance she gets. When we go on walks, Sydney likes to take another dogs leash in her mouth, and will very proudly walk down the road, "walking" a dog of her own.
Sydney loves meeting new people and children and other dogs. She has been an absolute gift to our family and we simply couldn't imagine life without her!
The Motes
We could not be happier with our puppy, Tikka. She is such a great dog. The whole process of getting her was a pleasure. The breeder was great to deal with. She answered any questions we had about the puppy on a timely manner and was always friendly. She was very accommodating to us when we came to get our Tikka as we live in Saskatchewan and had to drive a ways for her. We were very happy with the whole process and if ever we were wanting to get another golden puppy we will come back!

My boyfriend and I contemplated getting a puppy for quite sometime. It was not a decision we wanted to take lightly. We did our research and after sometime we reached a point in our lives where we were ready. We are beyond happy and grateful to have found such a great breeder. When we arrived at the farm to meet the puppies for the first time, we were already impressed. What a great location for dogs to run and to raise puppies. We instantly fell in love with every single one of the puppies (which I'm sure everyone did), We picked our puppy and that was the best decision we have probably ever made. When we left the farm that day we were sad to leave, but incredibly excited and delighted in our decision, and at the thought of what was yet to come.
To this day, we could not be happier with our boy, Oakley, From day one, he has been SO smart, easy to train, loving, loyal and overall a treasure to have and be around. His calm, gentle and loving demeanor is what makes him such a special member of the family. He is keen to go on adventures and long walks and also loves to cuddle up on those lazy days. He brightens our day and brings so much joy to our lives that we couldn't imagine life without him, We get compliments quite often on how beautiful and well behaved he is. We are planning on getting another puppy down the road, and there is nowhere else we would rather get a puppy from than the farm in Zhoda.
